Thammasat Students' Volunteer Spirit A Tribute to Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother
Monday 10 November 2025

Students from Thammasat University (TU) across all four campuses, Tha Prachan, Rangsit, Pattaya, and Lampang, united as volunteers to engage in benevolent activities in honor of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother, during the period of November 4-6, 2025, while respectfully remembering her immeasurable royal benevolence.
Representatives of the students participated in a ribbon-making activity to express condolences, organized by the Thai Volunteer Spirit Club of PTT Group, at Building 1 of PTT Public Company Limited Headquarters on Vibhavadi Rangsit Road, Bangkok, and at the PTT Thammasat Community Space in Lampang Province. The purpose was to produce ribbons to be distributed to the local community. Additionally, the students and the Thammasat community volunteered to distribute 10,000 bottles of Pim-Sean balm oil to the public and Army Medical Department.

Khwanpie Onnom, a fourth-year Engineering student at Thammasat University, expressed a deep connection to Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, feeling her as the Mother due to witnessing the impact of her royal initiatives on Thai citizens. Despite not having the lifelong perspective of the older generation, she felt profound loss upon hearing of her passing. This sorrow motivated her participation in various Thammasat University activities to express condolences.

Jiratchaya Yodkaew, a fourth-year Engineering student at Thammasat University, was pleased to attend the event as an alternative to paying respects at the Grand Palace, which was inconvenient due to restrictions. She was deeply moved and saddened by Her Majesty Queen Sirikit's continuous royal duties and concern for the Thai people's well-being and peaceful lives, even during illness.

Kamthorn Wangudom, a Thammasat Law alumnus, participated in making black ribbons for the public to pay respects to Her Majesty Queen Sirikit. Having witnessed her tireless dedication, such as establishing the Bang Sai Arts and Crafts Center to train underprivileged children of farmers for free, he feels immense gratitude for her compassion and sorrow at her passing.

Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, like His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, will always hold a cherished place in the hearts of Thai people. The commitment remains to uphold royal initiatives and integrate Her Majesty's various royal speeches into daily life, thereby contributing to the betterment of society and the nation's future.

Students from every academic year, faculty members, staff, and various sectors of the Thammasat community gathered to sign a book of condolences throughout the day. Students from the Buddhist Studies and Tradition Club organized a merit-making activity, consisting of a food offering ceremony, to perform a religious rite in honor of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother, on the seventh day of her passing. This event took place beneath the Student Activity Building at the Student Affairs Division of Thammasat University, Rangsit Campus.
