Update: Thammasat University has discussed an academic collaboration with Embassy of Canada, Harvard-Yenching Institute and TECO.

Embassy of Canada visits Thammasat to promote ties

     On 15 June 2023, the Vice Consul of the Canadian Embassy, Mr. Christophe Rouleau, and Trade Commissioner, Ms. Nitchawan Sriviboone, called on Thammasat Rector Gasinee Witoonchart to introduce Vice President Christine Nakamura and Director A.W. Lee of the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada (APF Canada). Joining the Rector at Thammasat University, Rangsit Campus were the Dean of the School of Global Studies and Vice Deans for Academic Affairs and Student Affairs at the Faculty of Economics.

     After greetings from the Rector, the visitors presented information about the APF project: “Northeast X Southeast: Advancing Partnerships Between Canada and Asia 2023–2025”. The project focuses on Clean Technology, Health Technology and Information and Communication Technology, aiming to promote innovations by Canadian women traders.

     To strengthen the partnership between Thammasat and Canada, the Vice President of APF Canada extended an invitation to Thammasat to co-host an international seminar entitled “Smarter Living: The Canadian Women-only Business Mission to South Korea and Thailand” with a Thammasat auditorium proposed as a venue.  The Thammasat Rector enthusiastically agreed to provide Thammasat facilities to support the seminar and join the event as the opening keynote speaker.

     The seminar will feature panel discussions from approximately thirty notable Canadian, Korean and Thai entrepreneurs on the topic of regional trade agreements. The forum will target a primarily female audience and is scheduled for 27 November 2023 at Thammasat University, Tha Prachan Campus.

สถานทูตแคนาดา เยือนธรรมศาสตร์ เพื่อหารือความร่วมมือ

     เมื่อวันที่ 15 มิถุนายน 2566 รศ.เกศินี วิฑูรชาติ อธิการบดีมหาวิทยาลัยธรรมศาสตร์ ให้การต้อนรับ Mr. Christophe Rouleau รองกงสุล พร้อมด้วยเจ้าหน้าที่ จากสถานเอกอัครราชทูตแคนาดาประจำประเทศไทย ในการเยือนมหาวิทยาลัยธรรมศาสตร์ ศูนย์รังสิต เพื่อแนะนำรองประธาน (Ms. Christine Nakamura) และผู้อำนวยการ (Mr. A.W. Lee) จาก the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada (APF Canada) ในการนี้ คณบดีวิทยาลัยโลกคดีศึกษา รวมถึงรองคณบดีฝ่ายวิชาการและรองคณบดีฝ่ายการนักศึกษา จากคณะเศรษฐศาสตร์ เข้าร่วมหารือในครั้งนี้ด้วย

     ฝ่ายสถานทูตแคนาดาได้นำเสนอข้อมูลเกี่ยวกับโครงการ “Northeast X Southeast: Advancing Partnerships Between Canada and Asia 2023 -2025 ซึ่งเป็นโครงการเกี่ยวกับเทคโนโลยีสะอาด เทคโนโลยีด้านสุขภาพ และด้านเทคโนโลยีสารสนเทศ เพื่อสนับสนุนนวัตกรรมของผู้ประกอบการสตรีชาวแคนาดา

     เพื่อเสริมสร้างความสัมพันธ์อันดีระหว่างมหาวิทยาลัยธรรมศาสตร์และแคนาดา รองประธานมูลนิธิ APF Canada ได้เชิญธรรมศาสตร์ เป็นเจ้าภาพร่วมในการจัดสัมมนานานาชาติ หัวข้อ “Smarter Living: The Canadian Women-only Business Mission to South Korea and Thailand” พร้อมขออนุเคราะห์ใช้สถานที่เพื่อจัดงาน ในการนี้ อธิการบดียินดีร่วมเป็นเจ้าภาพพร้อมสนับสนุนอำนวยความสะดวกอื่น ๆ นอกเหนือจากสถานที่จัดงาน และยังตอบรับเป็นประธานกล่าวเปิดงานการสัมมนาในครั้งนี้ด้วย

     การสัมมนาจะถูกจัดในรูปแบบอภิปราย ซึ่งจะมีคณะผู้ประกอบการสตรีชาวแคนาดา ประมาณ 30 คน ร่วมอภิปรายกับวิทยากรผู้ทรงคุณวุฒิจากแคนาดา เกาหลี และไทย ในประเด็นที่เกี่ยวกับการค้าระดับภูมิภาค ทั้งนี้ ผู้จัดงานได้กำหนดกลุ่มเป้าหมายที่จะเข้าร่วมงานเป็นเพศหญิงในเบื้องต้น และกำหนดจัดในวันที่ 27 พฤศจิกายน  2566 ณ มหาวิทยาลัยธรรมศาสตร์ ท่าพระจันทร์

Thammasat and HYI discuss Joint Doctoral Program

     A delegation from Harvard-Yenching Institute (HYI) paid a visit to Thammasat University, Tha Prachan Campus on 14 June 2023. They were greeted by the Assistant Rector for International Affairs, Dr. Siripatra Patchanee, accompanied by OIA staff.

     During the meeting, the HYI side gave a briefing on the new Joint Doctoral scholarship program, tentatively opening in 2024, and scholarship opportunities for Thammasat graduate students at the National University of Singapore (NUS), The program, a joint PhD scholarship project by NUS and HYI, targets not only Thai students, but Laotian and Burmese graduate students from Thammasat as well who aspire to pursue their doctoral degree at NUS.

     The Thammasat side presented its view on the Visiting Fellowship program, suggesting that the period of research be reduced to less than 10 months because of its effects on the teaching workload. Thammasat also expressed its concerns about the continuing decline of applicants due to the high level of English proficiency required on the IELTS exam as well as the higher number of faculty members who already hold a PhD degree.

     In closing, Thammasat sought support and scholarships for university support staff to attend training courses and conduct research at NUS.

ธรรมศาสตร์ และ HYI หารือความร่วมมือหลักสูตรและโอกาสการขอรับทุนในระดับปริญญาเอก

     อ.ทพญ.สิริภัทรา พัชนี ผู้ช่วยอธิการบดีฝ่ายวิเทศสัมพันธ์ พร้อมเจ้าหน้าที่ฝ่ายวิเทศสัมพันธ์ ให้การต้อนรับผู้แทนจาก Harvard-Yenching Institute (HYI) ในการเยือนมหาวิทยาลัยธรรมศาสตร์ ท่าพระจันทร์ ในวันที่ 14 มิถุนายน 2566

     ระหว่างการหารือ ฝ่าย HYI นำเสนอหลักสูตร Joint Doctoral Degree program ซึ่งเป็นหลักสูตรร่วมระหว่าง HYI และ NUS พร้อมโอกาสการขอรับทุนศึกษาในระดับปริญญาเอก ณ NUS ในปีการศึกษา 2567 สำหรับนักศึกษา มธ. ผู้มีสัญชาติไทย ลาว และเมียนมา

     ฝ่ายธรรมศาสตร์ ให้ข้อคิดเห็นเกี่ยวกับโปรแกรมทำวิจัยระยะสั้น ระยะเวลา 10 เดือน ที่ NUS ว่าขอให้พิจารณาลดระยะเวลาการทำวิจัยให้สั้นลง เนื่องจากมีผลกระทบต่อระยะเวลาการสอนของอาจารย์ที่ได้รับทุน รวมถึงหารือเกี่ยวกับกับจำนวนผู้สมัครขอรับทุนวิจัยมีจำนวนน้อยลง เนื่องจากปัจจุบันอาจารย์ มธ. ส่วนใหญ่มีวุฒิการศึกษาระดับปริญญาเอกแล้ว และเงื่อนไขผลคะแนน IELTS ในการร่วมโปรกแกรมที่ค่อนข้างสูง นอกจากนี้ ธรรมศาสตร์ สอบถามข้อมูลเพิ่มเติมเกี่ยวกับทุนสนับสนุนสำหรับบุคลากรสายสนับสนุนวิชาการ เพื่อการอบรมและการทำงานวิจัย ณ NUS

TECO (Taiwan) and Thammasat look to the future

     Director Nick Ni and staff from the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Thailand (TECO) visited Thammasat University, Tha Prachan Campus on 19 June 2023. They were welcomed by the Assistant Rector for International Affairs, Dr. Siripatra Patchanee, and OIA Regional Coordinators for Asia.

     The visit focused on potential collaboration between Thammasat and the Ministry of Economic Affairs in Taiwan, exploring ways forward to provide Thammasat graduates with opportunities to work at Taiwanese enterprises in both Taiwan and Thailand.

     To strengthen the partnership, TECO took the opportunity to discuss further collaborative activities to enrich Thammasat graduates’ understanding of organizational culture and become familiar with the workplace environment at Taiwanese enterprises in Thailand.  Such activities include study visits, internships and relevant training courses. Thammasat as well expressed a strong interest to cooperate and support the activities presented by TECO.

     Furthermore, Thammasat extended an invitation to TECO and Taiwanese firms to participate in the annual Job Fair in March to be held next year at Thammasat University, Rangsit Campus.

ธรรมศาสตร์ หารือความร่วมมือกับ สำนักงานเศรษฐกิจและวัฒนธรรมไทเปประจำประเทศไทย

     อาจารย์ ทพญ.สิรภัทรา พัชนี ผู้ช่วยอธิการบดีฝ่ายวิเทศสัมพันธ์ พร้อมด้วยเจ้าหน้าที่กองวิเทศสัมพันธ์ ให้การต้อนรับผู้อำนวยการสำนักงานเศรษฐกิจและวัฒนธรรมไทเปประจำประเทศไทย พร้อมด้วยเจ้าหน้าที่ เมื่อวันที่ 19 มิถุนายน 2566 ณ มหาวิทยาลัยธรรมศาสตร์ ท่าพระจันทร์ เพื่อหารือการทำความร่วมมือระหว่างมหาวิทยาลัยธรรมศาสตร์และกระทรวงเศรษฐกิจไต้หวัน พร้อมหารือการสนับสนุนและผลักดันนักศึกษามหาวิทยาลัยธรรมศาสตร์ให้ได้รับโอกาสเข้าทำงานในบริษัทไต้หวันทั้งในไต้หวันและประเทศไทย หลังจากสำเร็จการศึกษาแล้ว

     และเป็นการสนับสนุนความสัมพันธ์อันดีระหว่างหน่วยงาน สำนักงานเศรษฐกิจและวัฒนธรรมไทเปฯ ใช้โอกาสนี้ในการหารือความร่วมมือในอนาคตผ่านกิจกรรมต่าง ๆ ไม่ว่าจะเป็นการศึกษาดูงาน การฝึกงาน รวมถึงการฝึกอบรม ณ บริษัทไต้หวันในประเทศไทย เพื่อให้นักศึกษาธรรมศาสตร์ เข้าใจวัฒนธรรมองค์กรและคุ้ยเคยบรรยากาศการการทำงาน ซึ่งฝ่ายธรรมศาสตร์ให้ความสนใจเป็นอย่างมากที่ประสานความร่วมมือ และการสนับสนุนกิจกรรมตามที่ฝ่ายไต้หวันนำเสนอ

     นอกจากนี้ ฝ่ายธรรมศาสตร์ ให้ข้อมูลเกี่ยวกับงานนิทรรศการการจัดหางาน ซึ่งถูกจัดขึ้นในเดือนมีนาคมของทุกปี ณ มหาวิทยาลัยธรรมศาสตร์ ศูนย์รังสิต ซึ่งธรรมศาสตร์จะเชิญฝ่ายไต้หวันเพื่อนำบริษัทต่าง ๆ เข้าร่วมงานในโอกาสต่อไป
